I received this book as a Christmas present and found it to be fascinating and engaging in its discuss of mental illness and particularly, schizophrenia. The author splits time between the history of mental health treatment and the author’s own experience with two schizophrenic sons. I really enjoyed the historical discussion of mental health treatment along with speciation on pharmaceutical options. The person story is riveting but terrifying. I thought the author had some scores to settle in the book and he also is awfully speculative about the timing of his sons’ health deterioration. These issues prevent a full five star rating though I’d still definitely recommend the book to others.
