Maybe You Should Talk to Someone
by Lori Gottlieb
I can’t afford a therapist, so I figured reading a book by a therapist about going to her therapist was the next best option.
Jokes aside, this book kept me hooked all of the way through, which isn’t the norm for me for nonfiction. It started good, and matured from ‘good book’ to ‘book that will stick with me far beyond when I put it down.’ The assortment of eclectic characters first makes you laugh at their eccentricities, then become aware that they have just the same struggles that I do.
Read, reflect, and use these lessons. Write down what sticks out to you. There’s too much to absorb in a quick read through, so take your time. Like Lori at the end of the book, don’t run to catch the next light. Notice the warmth on your skin as you stop at the curb and tilt your face to the sun, soaking it in, lifting your eyes to the world.
