Wait for It by Mariana Zapata
4.0

Okay, let me just start off by saying that Mariana Zapata's books are super hyped. I mean, everywhere I looked, people were raving about her writing and her swoon-worthy romances. So naturally, I had high expectations when I picked up "Wait For It." And let me tell you, it took me a while to get into it. I almost DNF'd twice, but boy, am I glad I didn't!

Let's talk about the characters. Zapata knows how to create some seriously lovable and relatable characters. But my favorite character was his kid Lou. That little firecracker stole my heart from the moment he stepped onto the page. The interactions between the main character and the kid were pure gold, and they added a whole new level of charm to the story.

what I did not like
However, I have to admit that the romance was a bit lacking for me. I didn't feel a strong connection between Diana and Dallas throughout the story. It often seemed like Dallas was helping her solely because she was a single mom, just like his own mother, and he wanted to be there for her when no one else was. Their relationship didn't fully blossom until the end of the book, right before the epilogue. Personally, I think the book would have been perfect if we had gotten Dallas's point of view , giving us deeper insight into his feelings and motivations.

Despite my reservations about the romance, "Wait For It" still delivers on the laughter, swoons, and lovable characters. The way Zapata crafts tension and anticipation in the slow-burn romance is amazing. If you're looking for a heartwarming story with a single-parent trope and witty banter, this book won't disappoint. Just keep in mind that the romance takes a bit longer to fully blossom. But trust me, the journey is still enjoyable and rewarding.
