even the author's note made me cry! what a great coming of age story. i wanted to say that this book would have meant more to me as a teenager, but i don't think that's true after finishing it. there are so many aspects of this story that i'm sure so many people could relate to, and it is maybe even more relevant to me now after having lived a decade's worth of life after those difficult teen years. this book is actually a treasure.
