Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
5.0
The novel picks up right where the first one ended, and it follows the same peculiar children from the first novel. In Hollow City, the children travel from Wales to London to save their headmistress that is trapped in the body of a bird. Hollow City has more action and adventure than the first novel, especially since the wights and hollows are chasing the children from the beginning of the novel. As the children travel to their destination, they meet numerous unique characters including peculiar animals (like an intelligent dog and an emu-raffe), gypsies, and even more peculiar children. Like the first novel, Hollow City includes intriguing old black and white photos, such as an image of the emu-raffe. Overall, the plot was compelling and there were several unexpected twists. The ending was a cliffhanger, but the third novel should pick up where it left off. I enjoyed reading this novel and I would definitely recommend reading this series.
