While slow going in the beginning half, there were definitely surprises and heartfelt passages that almost make up for it in the latter half.
I loved the relationship that flourished for each sister, the surprising relationship more in some ways because it felt more real to me than the other. The characters each mostly grew into themselves more since book 1, except maybe Sharmaine who I still wished I knew more than just a plot device, and the big bad was as evil as ever.
I like all of these things in a story although I'm still left with the feeling that there could've been more. More about the history and world of Visimperum. More about the relationship of Paladins with humans. The ending felt a bit like a cop out to me but at least it warmed my heartstrings. I want to ask for more but at least overall I'm mildly satisfied.
