This novel was honest, well written, and intriguing. Beah's story tells of his stolen childhood, the events he witnessed, and his time as a boy solider. The most compelling part of the story, I believe, is Beah's brutal honesty. His use of short and blunt sentences, along with his truthful telling of his actions complete the picture.

This book gives the perfect example of a war-torn country and how it affects the lives of millions. I would recommend this books for anyone, especially students, because of the effect it had on me, has a student living in America.
