Broken Things by Lauren Oliver
4.0

“Before we were the Monsters of Brickhouse Lane—we were just girls, and there were only two of us.”---- this was dark and twisty, but I loved it. Stayed up half the night to finish because once I started, I couldn’t stop. I had to know how it ended. There’s not much I can really say without giving it away, so I won’t. I’ll just say… it wasn’t who you think.

Lauren Oliver does a wonderful job weaving a story with characters you become invested in. By the end, I wasn’t only invested in the main three, I was invested in the outlying characters as well. I wanted to know who-dun-it, of course, but more-so, how the story ends for the characters I’d become invested in over the last four-hundred pages. Additionally, the use of the stories within the story was so well executed. It allowed for parallels to be drawn between characters and gave me some creepy almost Slenderman type vibes. I really enjoyed the book and plot. Was only moderately irritated by the ending sentence, but understood it given the importance to the stories within the book. Would recommend this book and kind of hope this is turned into a movie or mini-series, because I liked the audiobook portions I listened to. Sarah Drew from Greys Anatomy played Brynn, which was fun.
