The nightingale is not only a beautifully written story but it shines light on a piece of World War II that is often forgotten. Not only showing the importance and value of the resistance but of women in the war. It is also a stark reminder of what the war cost all Europeans whose homeland became the battlefield and were just trying to survive. This book is emotional, challenging and a beautifully tragic story.
