this book is so difficult to review - I had some aspects that I LOVED and some that really bugged me. the prose was often so flowery that it difficult to follow, so I was guessing on what happened sometimes. but the story is gorgeous underneath it. it’s a bit similar to handmaid’s tale with stockholm syndrome. the main character’s slow descent from a child looking for care and attention in the wrong place to a woman realizing she’s been trapped for years is so heart wrenching and will stay with me
