I had pretty low expectations for this book. Ok not that low. But honestly the book was published in 2009 and then 6 years later another was published. Of course I was happy but I wondered if it would be as good as the first. Of course it was. Callie is still spunky witty self. But I did see it through different eyes. I read the first book when I was 9 or ten years old. I noticed a lot of the sexism as I read the second book. I loved and hated the sexism I guess you could say. It pissed me off that Callie wasn't treated right but at the same time it was understandable at that time period. Which is why its historical fiction. What I love about this book is that Calpurnia questions why women are degraded this way and doesn't think its fair. I really hope there's a third book but hopefully I won't have to wait another 6 years for it. :)
