A truly great American novel, The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of the Joads, a family of sharecroppers who migrate to California during the Great Depression. It was shocking to me how relevant and striking Steinbecks message still is over 50 years later. The writing has a style that feels elevated and artistic, but still approachable. A must read for any classics fans
