The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones
4.0

These books to me are like the TV show Criminal Minds... I always forget how much I like it in between series (well definitely the early ones anyway) until I watch it again (or in this case read the new book) and then it all comes flooding back to me.

So The Curse of Tenth Grave continues the story of the PI/grim reaper Charley Davidson and her band of merry (both chipper and at times drunken) group of friends, ghosts, demons, evil gods and hell hounds!

Charley is having a bit of a hard time of it lately... what with the malevolent gods that are out to kill her daughter - the newborn that went into hiding at the end of the last book. She has to cast them out of this dimension and then, you know, solve the crime the police can't solve, save an innocent man and figure out what the curse is at the local children's group home - just your normal day for this PI and her ever trusty sidekick Cookie.

Like the other books in the series, I enjoyed reading it and finding out what could possibly go wrong next for Charley and Reyes and see what else is going on with the rest of the characters in Charley's Albuquerque... and also trying to decide which of the quotes at the start of the chapter is my favourite. I'm torn between two from this book:
Chapter 10 - I think senility is going to be a fairly smooth transition for me.
Chapter 23 - I was ready to take on the world, until I saw something sparkly.
