I thought this was an incredible book. I loved the characters of Saffy, Lorna and Rose
(the real Rose)
. I found the twists really original and really well done. Also such a thinker.
Like Daphne. I'm still thinking about it because a bit of me would of course want to have compassion for a 10 year old who has killed her friend but also. The judge was so clearly right. She was a phycopath and she was still a phycopath 30 years later when she killed Rose. But then also I can see Saffy's point of view that she has only good memories and experiences of the woman that she has known her whole life as her grandmother. But you can also see Lorna's point of view completely. Like Daphne has murdered her mother then lied to her and decided her into believing that she is her mother for her whole life. I really feel for both of them and really liked how the book dealt with that and loved that Lorna and Saffy were able to see each others opinions and like strengthen their own relationship - it was actually quite inspiring in a way.
I've focused more on the Daphne side of the story so far but obviously awful Victor is also the other antagonist - I liked Theo and his integrity and how he builds a relationship with Saffy and that Victor finally pays for his crimes. I also actually really liked that there wasn't really a focus on Victor - I think sometimes focus on perpetrators of male violence can be a bit gratuitous but I felt that this focused on the victims and the effect on them and I thought that was perfect.

Honestly I think that this was one of the best thrillers I've read in a little while and thought it was really well done. There's a load of things I have actually missed in this review because literally so much happens
- like Rose has the evidence of what Victor did and that really is a credit to Rose
