The Weekend Away by Sarah Alderson

4.0

It's like a Mars Bar. You don't text your friends to say their life is incomplete until they try one, but you enjoy the chocolate caramel goodness.

This was derivative, sure. But it that doesn't mean I didn't devour it. The pace is fast and the lead Orla's dubious association with her Uber driver was particularly engaging.

Some twists I guessed (cue happy smugness) others I didn't (cue a wee gasp). It lacks depth and genuine psychological thrills, but it's a compelling mystery with several layers.

Buy it. Read it. You'll enjoy it as a great literary snack - expect a Mars bar.
