NYPD detective with a contract on her head hides in a small town and clashes with its police chief. There's an instant attraction, but secrets and preconceived notions means the romance is a bit slower to build. There's some heated banter, and it's pretty combustible when they finally get it on, with lots of sensual heat.

Both MCs are likeable, sexy and tough in their own way, and I've always liked a protective alpha hero. Though he's a bit too unforgiving on her secret, and there's a slight overload on their physical traits! The suspense is engaging and the side characters are fun but I wished the dog had more page time.
