Fables, Vol. 5: The Mean Seasons
by Bill Willingham
I think its always difficult to create something that deals well with the calm after the storm. The last arc of Fables ramped up the action like never before and now here we get to see a lot of the aftermath. There are quite a few different arcs, storylines, and plot threads and somehow Bill Willingham weaves them all together seamlessly. The election in Fabletown, Bigby’s WWII adventure, Snow’s childbirth, Cinderella’s clandestine adventures, and more were all covered. While at times there seem to be so many things going on, I need a program, I did really enjoy it. Mark Buckingham’s art is still a perfect fit for the series although sometimes I would like more definition between some of the human looking women of Fabletown. Overall, a very good book in a series that keeps chugging along.
