The League of Gentlewomen Witches by India Holton

4.0

The League of Gentlewomen Witches exceeded my expectations. It was fast, and interesting and the main female lead was really cool.
We learned about the pirates in the previous book, in this book, we meet their enemies. Witches.

Charlotte is a part of a prophecy and is destined to inherit the league and lead. She has no time for feelings, only Jane Austen which gets mentioned on every second page. Alex O Reilly is the exact opposite. After a few run-ins, both team up to get back Black Bery's amulet from Lady Armitage (she's at it again folks!) The romantic and sexual tension was clear from the start, though I will admit, the smut was actually a surprising occurrence.

This was fast-paced and also once again, very feminist. I loved the return of characters from the previous book. Charlotte was so amazing and absolutely, I am awaiting the release of book 3.

<"Besides, she was merely being practical. It had become apparent the tension between them needed releasing on a regular basis, for the sake of their health—no, wait, for the sake of obtaining the amulet! Charlotte could not focus on that goal if constantly arguing with a pirate. It was her League duty to have sex with him."

I absolutely could not stop reading and I fell absolutely in love with the league and Charlotte. I'm lying if I say I didn't wish the league really existed in real life. Though the witch-burning stuff was a bit odd since that stuff occurred hundreds of years before since I'm pretty sure this is set in the 1800s.
