The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
It's all too weird. Like reading an Ayn Rand novel but with extremely weird pagan rituals. There is good stuff here though. The characters are all relatable and understandable; suddenly legends become people with hopes and flaws.  But this weird incessant theme is constantly reinforced seemingly inelegantly. It would feel better if the author would just let the story play out at a higher tempo without constantly feeling the need to interject.
