In this book’s author’s note, Katherine Center says she needed to write a book that just had a lot of light. She succeeded.

This book was really enjoyable! I literally read it in just a few hours. Here’s the reality though: this book was not written to feel like a book. It was written to feel like *a movie*.

I’m not a huge fan of fourth wall-style writing, usually. It worked here because of how intentional it was. And it legit took me until the epilogue until I realized: it’s a freaking movie narration.

I do hate that Center ascribed to my least fav book trope: the horrible best friend, leaving FMC friendless.

Honestly though, Hannah and Jack and the Stapleton were so compelling, and the motley crew of side characters were really effective.

Just a fun escapist book. Perfect to enjoy in summer.
