This is a really strong thriller that whipped me all over the place. I really didn’t know what to expect - while the alarm bells start ringing immediately over Josie, it was hard to anticipate which direction things would go, other than bad.
It’s mildly infuriating (in a good way) that Alix completely ignores her own intuition to keep Josie at arms’ length. I think I would understand it more if she was single or married without children, but keeping that creepy lady around your kids. I was dying to know what was going on with Erin, and I feel like it was only barely answered. I’ve seen complaints that people feel the obsession with Alix isnt explained well enough, but to me, it seems as simple as Josie thinking she could manipulate another person into having a deep and dark secret with so she could live a different life. She was tired and insecure and wanted out in the worst possible way.
I also loved the format of the book and the use of different mediums to convey the story. As for the ending, as the title implies, you’re really left wondering what on earth was true.
