I really enjoyed this book, I just wish it had been a bit faster paced. It took me a long time to get through! I love a queer coming of age story and it was really interesting to read one set in the 1950s. After the book I find myself wanting to know the rest of Lily and Kath's story. For example, do her parents ever come to terms with Lily's sexuality? I found the piece about the communism interesting and also would have liked more context as to how that was all resolved as far as Shirley and Calvin.
Moderate: Homophobia
