Thorns From The Fall by Jess Wisecup

3.0

This one hurts to write. I was so hyped going into this book. Book 1? An easy 5-star. But this? This felt like I accidentally picked up a completely different series. The only character I genuinely liked was Niko. Roman? Fine. But everyone else? Who are you people?

🚨 Mild spoilers ahead 🚨

Gwyn’s betrayal could’ve been workable—she seemed to regret it almost immediately—but then it just kept spiraling. And when Roman retaliated (which was totally fair), she had the nerve to be mad? Girl, be serious.

Her depression was portrayed decently, but it veered too hard into “woe is me because my terrible choices had consequences.” Meanwhile, Remy’s mental health arc? Heartbreaking and well done from start to finish.

I’m annoyed, I’m disappointed, and I’m grieving the book this could have been. But I still love this author and I’m definitely sticking around for what she writes next. Just... hoping for fewer personality transplants next time.
