I was fully immersed in what the circus might feel like. Each character has their own story but it worked perfectly as a whole. Difficult to wrap your head around the jumps between dates at first, but makes more sense as the stories start to come together. 
edit: when i think about it now, some of the costumes described don’t seem entirely late 19th century, so not sure how accurate some of the images i had imagined would be for the time period. keeping it at 5* because it went beyond my expectations.
