This book was not at all what I expected, but I enjoyed it so much! Strong characters, a compelling narrative, and very thought-provoking. I felt some of the big twists were fairly predictable, but others really took me by surprise. You can feel the authors deep love of the South while also seeing her struggle to reconcile the lovely with the past and present evil so entrenched in the area. I loved it!
