starting to think i really just don't connect with this author at all and it is NOT because of slow pacing, trust me. i liked the writing proper but this fell flat just like nakano thrift shop did. i liked this more than the former though. the actual 30/60 year old age gap i don't really mind—i just can't understand how everyone seems to overlook the fact that he knew her as a child? would've felt so much better without all that
