Thiago loses his wife Vera, and the world is swept from under him. In the run up to her death, their at home smart speaker 'Itza' had been acting awfully strange.

This Thing Between Us is my first five star read of the year and the best horror book I've read in bloody ages, emphasis on the bloody. Never in my life have I been so simultaneously sad and scared whilst reading a book.

Moreno captured both grief and fear so perfectly in this narrative. The fact that this is a debut novel has blown my tiny mind. The story is written as if the main character is telling his late wife what has happened, which just added a whole other layer to the story.

I loved this book. It was wild and sad and gross and so so scary. I never get scared, but I'm not ashamed to say that in the few nights I read this, when it was time for bed, I ran out of the room when I switched the lights off. I was so afraid 💁🏻‍♀️

If you think you can handle this book, get it immediately. This Thing Between Us is certainly a book that'll claw into your brain and stay with you.
