Beautiful prose that tells a story through the emotion of characters whom you can't help but love and hope for, even when you ought to know better.
Some writing and references in the telling were misplaced out of their time period, and if you're intimate with Arthurian legend this retelling might chafe a bit, but I was entranced with the reimagining of something classic. There's a circling battle between what might be and what's hoped for, and what legend dictates will be, and the resolution feels equally sorrowful and hopeful.
