I was excited that this book was set in Louisiana, but it really didn't feel very much like Louisiana in any way. Chloe starts to get really high from one xanax, and taking 2 xanax makes her sleep for 24 hours. WTF! Where can I get those xanax? Also as a speech language pathologist, I noted that it is quite implausible for a woman with anoxia to be in a facility for 10 or so years without getting speech therapy. And you're telling me that she can tap yes and no, and ONLY HER DAUGHTER figured out how to help her speak? That's ridiculous.
