The Girl You Gave Away by Jess Ryder

slow-paced

2.0

I had high hopes for The Girl You Gave Away, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its intriguing premise. The plot was messy, with too many twists that felt forced rather than gripping. The characters were underdeveloped, making it hard to connect with or care about their struggles. The shifting narrative style—from first person to third person, with alternating POV chapters—was jarring and pulled me out of the story repeatedly. It made the book feel disjointed and hard to follow, leaving me more frustrated than thrilled. While the premise had potential, the execution left much to be desired.
