Lotus and Feather by Ji-Li Jiang

5.0

I enjoyed this book!

I was curious to know more about the winter illness and why it made Lotus such a social pariah to her classmates. For me, one thing that stood out was the concept of an animal acting as a friend within a children's book without being anthropomorphic. While embellished in places and theatrical in others, I believe it is a multicultural book because a Chinese village history's accrual occurrence inspired it. I also believe it would be a must-have for my diversifying library because accurate East Asian representation is lacking in the publishing industry.
