Taking Charge of Your Fertility (Revised Edition): The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health by Toni Weschler
5.0
This book addresses the fallacy of assuming that everyone has an even 28-day cycle with ovulation right at day 14, and teaches you how to detect when ovulation actually takes place via basal body temperature, cervical fluid, and cervical position (which is optional, since tracking the other two is more important).
The book is very sound, well-researched, and the method well-tested with a huge margin of success. She says that studies have shown the Fertility Awareness Method to have a very comparable percentage of success as the Pill. It also has helped a lot of women who thought they were infertile realise they were in fact not.
I guess I think it's an excellent idea to be more in touch with the functions and quirks of one's body, especially as women. I'm finding that keeping track of little things is showing up trends in my system that were always pesky and bothersome to me to merely be chemically caused.
In short, this book has helped me relax. I would recommend it to anyone who would rather not take the pill and still have the same level of protection.
