Promethea: 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Book One by Alan Moore

2.0

Almost couldn't finish this one. The art is beautiful, I liked the idea of resurrecting an old comic character in all her iterations over the years, and the occult imagery was neat to look at. But I just couldn't take the book seriously knowing Alan Moore actually believes in the magical elements. I like Swamp Thing and Watchmen; I won't be reading the rest of Promethea.

The 12th issue with the rhyming caduceus snakes explaining Tarot was nearly unreadable. I should've followed my gut and quit reading during the earlier issue where Promethea is more or less coerced into having tantric sex with an old wizard (a stand in for Moore himself, no doubt) to learn about some stuff she apparently couldn't glean from books...or from a consensual sexual encounter?
