Calypso by David Sedaris

4.0

I can’t believe I hadn’t experienced David Sedaris’ work earlier. A summary for another book explains he writes about the “insanity of everyday life.” Such a fitting description. I’m intrigued and entertained by how he observes the world… this collection of personal stories comes with many dark moments as well (sprinkled with dark and bizarre humor throughout—of which I love). His tangent about culottes and his live reading/rant on small talk had me literally laughing out loud. I’ve now added so many of his books to my lists to read/listen to in the future. I also sometimes pictured the characters of Bojack Horseman reading this now that I know he played Cutie Cutie Cupcake. Which made me even more entertained. I’ve truly been living under a rock.
