Untamed by Glennon Doyle

5.0

As I’m coming to terms with my own conditioning and programming, this book is the most helpful thing I have read. Perhaps some girls and women were lucky enough to be shielded from organized religion and sexist social norms in general, so this book wasn’t relatable to them. For me, Doyle put in to words so many of the thoughts I’ve had about my own upbringing, shaped by Catholic parents and a very conservative community. If you’ve already untamed yourself, feel no need, or aren’t ready yet, then I suppose this isn’t the book for you. If you’ve spent most of your life internalizing all the millions of subtle and direct messages about how women “should be”, then you will likely feel a great sense of relief and freedom from her words.
