Immortality: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz
4.0
Warning: spoilers ahead!
I would probably give this book at 3.5/5 stars. I really enjoyed this book, though I liked the first book in this series better. I liked the bizarre situations Hazel finds herself (or puts herself) in and the love triangle.
However, Jack showing up at the exact right place at the exact right time seems a little too convenient, especially since he doesn't really know where Hazel is. And I thought that Hazel taking the tincture at the end of the story was kind of a letdown. She promises to find a way to reverse the effects of the tincture but never really does, except for promising that she will do it in the future. While reversing the effects of the tincture comes with its own set of questions (how will reversing it change the body? Would those who have taken it still be alive after the reversal, or would they just die?), I thought it would prove Hazel to be the amazing female doctor and scientist that she was set up to be in the novel. I also wanted more at the end. We spend all this time with Hazel and Jack and aren't really told too much about what becomes of them. I'd even love a third novel about their life after!
