New Moon
by Stephenie Meyer
adventurous
dark
emotional
Much like the first book in the series, Stephenie Meyer's 'New Moon' is just not the same reading it as an adult. As a teen, this was my favorite in the Twilight saga because I was a Jacob-girlie, but I can now see how his refusal to take 'no' for an answer is problematic. Edward is also toxic, of course (as is Bella, and every other character for that matter), but it's actually pretty interesting realizing how well Meyer captures teenage emotions (the all-consuming nature of first love and the devastating feeling that life is over after that initial heartbreak). Problematic elements aside, I still love a nostalgic read and would recommend it to anyone wanting to revisit their teen Twilight phase.
