Thick as Thieves by Megan Whalen Turner

3.0

Having read the prior books of The Queen's Thief series so long ago, I didn't feel I was able to fully enjoy this book. Don't get me wrong, it was a lovely story and I genuinely did enjoy getting to know Kamet and his complex considerations of the Mede empire and his own life. What I enjoyed about this book was how well developed Kamet's character was, how I believed his thought process and reasoning even when I knew it was erroneous. What I was disappointed in was the predictable twist at the end. This was particularly disappointing because this book is so loosely connected to the prior and features Kamet more than anything else, that I was hoping for a wonderful link to the others that would create excitement for the last installment. I am still looking forward to reading the last book, but this book felt more like a pitstop than a step forward.
