For me, the world-building was vibrant and unique, but drew me away from the core of the story and slowed down the pace. There is a lot of underlying mythology that I appreciate and find interesting, but at times it seemed there was almost too much of it. However, I completely understand I am not exactly the demographic for this book. While I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped, my local library was thrilled to receive the hardcover donation of this book for their YA fantasy readers.
