Devils' Day Party by C.M. Stunich
5.0

Loved This Book

Imagine if you had to live one day over and over again, stuck in a time loop (like the film Groundhog's Day), and throw in some hot guys (whom are bullies) and amazing besties and lots of art and the wildest high school party ever...and then you'll have this book.

Karma is the poor local girl attending the local fancy boarding school for delinquents. But, rich kids with issues are the absolute worst. She's been relentlessly bullied by 3 boys of the Knight's Crew since freshman year, and though they treat her terribly she still feels this weird connection to them.

Devil's Day is this weird local holiday where people don masks and dance around a bonfire in an effort to spook away any real devils...but mostly it's just a day filled with debauchery. Anything goes. And today of all days is the day that Karma has to relive for what seems to be an eternity. The universe has a cruel sense of humour. Karma has some lessons to learn.

Without going in to details, because spoilers...there were several moments in the book that made me cry. I could blame hormones, but I'd rather blame the author. When things go positively for Karma in some sense, the agony she feels as she wakes up to start the same day again killed me. There's this huge sense of losing something so lovely...something only she remembers, that made me sob into my pillow. I couldn't handle living that heartache every day. Though since Covid happened sometimes it feels like I'm in a weird time loop. Same day, different book though.

Anyway, I loved this book. It fits into the Burberry Prep and Adamson Academy world and I wonder if these characters will ever meet up with characters from those books in the future. Kind of fun to think about. If you like multiple love interests and the idea of a time loop, you should read this. It was so good.
