Walking Disaster
by Jamie McGuire
Beautiful disaster but from the male protagonist Travis’ point of view falls quite short of expectations. While there are some newly added scenes filling in some gaps from Beautiful Disaster, and a nice epilogue to allow for a glimpse into the future of Travis and Abby, this book comes with the prerequisite that you read the previous one. Pivotal moments are glossed over with one-sentence explanations, conversations are cut short, and plot holes are created.
Abby seems to be quite absent from this book as McGuire assumes you have read the previous, so doesn’t really introduce her. She also comes across as cruel and spiteful in this book, which she didn’t in the previous one.
It was nice to see the glimpse into Travis’ family life and I only wish we saw more of that. Shepley got rounded out nicely in this one too, however America’s personality and decisions seemed to ping pong around when you are aware of the plot of the previous book.
