A Winter's Promise by Christelle Dabos

5.0

I’m at such a loss for words right now. This was one of the best books that I have read in a long, long time. I think that, indisputably, worldbuilding is the most important part of writing fantasy and it was done so masterfully in this book. I was caught up in a vast and intriguing world every second that I was reading and I never wanted it to end. Not only was the world incredible, but I also found the characters to be compelling. I was genuinely invested in what was happening and the overall journey that the characters were taking. No detail was spared in the writing and I really felt like I got to see everything. The plot also felt genuine, not like the author was forcing the characters to do things that they wouldn’t do in order to satisfy some kind of romantic plotline. I feel unsatisfied by so many books that I pick up now because either the plot is lacking or the writing is unsophisticated. Reading this was such a pleasure and such unique experience for me for so many reasons. I truly felt like I went on a journey and I plan on continuing with the series because of how amazing it was for me.
