Ahhhh... to be taken back to the simple joys of reading romcoms.

I don't know, I just always enjoy the simplicity of the emotions (sometimes circumstances, as well) and plots of Young Adult fiction while deftly handling complex themes of discovering your true self and learning to ask for what you want. There's something endearing about the innocence or naivety of certain feelings and plots that come up.

I LOVE a love triangle, especially when it involves some deception.

I also love how in this one, she convinces herself that no guy really likes her (relatable teen experience), only to discover there was a very real chance with various guys. Also love that there was this third sweet, friend-zoned guy that she never considered, but was secretly always an option. Sometimes I like when it turns out it's not the guy you think you're supposed to be rooting for. Almost like saying "you'll get your happy ending, you just having looked in the right spaces yet." I liked the ending, cause it also made it feel like the book wasnt just about the romance and love triangle. It was about this girl figuring herself out and discovering who she could be, discovering her potential (which all these guys had seen from the beginning -- another trope I appreciate). I also love when the plot thickens and it gets messy in ways that are completely expected but only because the author did a good job of leaving inconspicuous breadcrumbs along the way. I love that pay off.
