The Garlic Ballads by Mo Yan
1.0
My edition is poorly edited and possibly poorly translated as well, but even with those things aside, I just don't think the story itself gelled with me. It's an interesting point in Chinese history and the way the stories entwine around a pivotal point in time is a tactic I usually like, but this seemed to be wandering, with many changes of point of view from first to third person that were bewildering and some scenes that just left me going, "What? Why?"
