Cbgb & Omfug: Thirty Years from the Home of Underground Rock by Hilly Kristal

3.0

It's a great little nostalgia book, full of photos, and little stories of famous musicians and their first time at said venue, but that's about it. Great as a catalog to remember the venue by.

I am interested in seeing the layout of the venue in it's prime, as everyone in the book points out to the 'great sound' it had. I visited the former CBGB's recently (where I bought this book), it is now a clothes shop, but they still kept some original CBGB's things. I was confused whether the stage was actually on the side of the venue (because to me, that would probably give a rather horrible, crappy sound - especially if the sound is punk music) and this clothing shop kept the stage (or so I think?)
So, ideally, a proper book about CBGBs, it's layout, the sound, etc. would've been more fascinating to me.
