I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

5.0

I'm not one for non-fiction, but this was definitely a must read. We all have seen the talk coming out in the past couple years about what went down on set at various childhood favorite shows, and since I was a huge fan of iCarly I was very interested in reading Jennette's story. When I say this book made me physically ill... I honestly don't know how she has gotten this far. I don't understand how she was able to play Sam at all. Every detail of Jennette's childhood was horrific and as the book went on I felt my mouth dropping open even further. One of the most heartbreaking things about her story is the fact that she, like many children who are abused by family, didn't know or understand what was happening in the moment. While I was sad to hear she wouldn't be joining the iCarly reboot at the time of its announcement, I now understand why she chose to stay away. Her journey of healing is inspiring and I hope she is able to continue on that path toward happiness. As for her true passion being writing, I have to say she has a bright future as an author ahead of her.
