The Hunted Heir by Holly Renee
5.0

“I am devoted to you” his intense gaze locked with mine.”Please let me fall to my knees before you and prove my devotion with my tongue against your skin.”

“Tell me, Verena. Do you enjoy being a wicked little thing?”

“Every inch of her was like an intoxicating drug, and I was hopelessly addicted.”

I don’t even know where to begin. I’m still laying at the bottom of the cliff Holly threw me over. How am I going to be able to wait for Book 3? The story picks up where The Veiled Kingdom ended. Verena is on the run from the rebellion and from her father. Dacre is looking for her and struggling with his loyalty to his dad and his feelings for Verena.
Verena feels betrayed by Dacre but she still wants him. Dacre has to look for her to appease his father but he knows he won’t let anyone hurt her. Dacre’s character does a lot of growing up as his feelings for Verena evolve. He does a little groveling which is great because he was a little bit of a thug in book 1. I like that they don’t go from “I hate you to I love you” very quickly. Verena comes into her own as a badass. She is still having an internal fight between her heart and her head when it comes to Dacre. I feel like she becomes stronger as the story goes on. I like that the story explains their childhood and I think that keeps you interested in the characters and leads to more questions. I really wish the book was a little longer just because I really wanted more of Dacre and his dirty mouth, which is still alive and well. Half of this book was so tense and I was waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under my feet. I was not disappointed when I landed firmly on my ass. The spicy scenes are thigh clenching good. I will never look at a foggy mirror the same way again, thank you Holly. I love Holly’s writing because it always makes me feel things. Whenever I read her books I get a physical reaction to her stories. I couldn’t put this book down, I wish I could have paced myself but it was impossible, I had to know what happened next. I still have a lot of questions and I hope to see some of the other characters have a bigger role in the next book. I missed Wren and Kai a little. I’m still hoping they are a thing. Maybe it’s just me. I can’t wait for Book 3. I recommend this book if you like one bed, touch her and die, magic, fated mates and possessive MMC.
