This book was a weird steampunk-y, kinda-adventure-ish?, conspiracy/art history/secret society driven story that I really wanted to like. There was a lot of intrigue and so many parts of the book were interesting as parts on their own. But together, this just wasn't a book that flowed well for me and I often felt disjointed as the storyline seemed to constantly change paths.
I liked Lee as a main character, but the character growth could have been much more complex and deeper, considering the things that she experiences in the story. I ADORED Tomi, he was truly a peach. But I really didn't GET the relationship between the two, what the real point was of him in the story and why the hell he kept appearing and disappearing every couple of minutes.
I loved the story of the thief, the story of the secret society, the story of a girl sent to prison, and the story of weird steampunky science mysteries. But all together, the entire story was disjointed and jarring, making it a struggle to keep up and stayed engaged.
