Rooftoppers
by Katherine Rundell
Charles is the only reason i enjoy this honestly. I love rooftops and treeclimbing too but the odd way cuts and pain is used threw me off those. However Charles is well written, I adore him. He reminds me of my own father. I could almost rip the world apart over the last paragraph in this novel from his prospective. It's honestly so despairing how Sophie straight up threw him aside!! That said, I don't really like the other characters of the kids.
Also very little atmosphere honestly. I wanted to read more about the roofs and the night paris but I honestly didn't get it much.
A weirdly massive amount of blood, cuts and odd metaphors used to describe things as the story goes. I understand it's not a pretty job to be running around on roofs all dirty but i draw the line at licking fingers and hands repeatedly after grabbing roofs already described as covered in bird shit.
Read this ages ago once before, remembered it basically the same. Fairly memorable for a few years, like Matteo, Charles and the Cello on the roofs.
