Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake

3.0

3.5 stars but because Goodreads is still living in 2005 and won't let me put half stars, 3 it is.

This was a highly anticipated book for me and also my first f/f piece of fiction, so I didn't know what to expect but was very excited. I mean, bookshop owner and a photographer? It's like two halves of my personality met.

I adored Claire (a little less when she enters controlling mother mode, but even so), however I must admit that sometimes it was a pain to read about Delilah. Her characterization is quite cliched (the dark, "mysterious one" that doesn't seem to care about anything), but that doesn't mean that she needed to be a b*** to everyone for no reason. Well, I mean, she had reasons, but after 12 years I would expect an adult to be able to behave like, you know, an adult for like 5 minutes.

This also goes for Iris. I do not like her. I can make excuses for Delilah, beeing one of the protagonists and all, but Iris... dear god, would you shut your piehole for five minutes?

Anyways, the romance was cute and steamy; Claire and Delilah actually match very well together, and I didn't have to suffer through macho shennanigans nor any toxic stuff that I noticed. If you're into romance and have no experience of f/f romances or just want something slightly differen from your everyday contemporary romances, give this book a try.
